I've heard many 'big-name bands' try this song out but no matter who it was, Manfred Mann was the only band that pulled this song off in a way B Springsteen only wished he'd thought to do! There aren't many songs that have been re-done by a band that didn't write it. Most of the time, (maybe 99.9% of the time), the original still came through better than any remakes. But every once in a while, someone pulls off a remake of the original and beats the odds. Manfred Mann certainly hit the mark with "Blinded by The Light" IMPO. Other bands tried it but simply didn't get it done the way MM did. They did it so well, that it was several years before I, and many of my friends, came to realize B Springsteen wrote and did it first! FWIW, Rich

The kid in me so many years ago Loved her for all the same reasons I still love her today. A wonderful performer and singer. I really miss all the years of so many decades past really bad.

I remember this song very well it's a great song by a great group similar to The 5th Dimension I think the digitization was done from a tape that they baked which absolutely ruined the sound quality but guess it's better than not having it around at all but it literally sounds like AM radio

This song is the subject of an urban myth. During an instrumental break, there is a scream that sounds a little out of place. It was rumored that the scream was the sound of a woman being murdered in the studio. According to the story, which was started by a DJ in California, this woman was the model who appeared on the album cover. She was kneeling on glass and pouring honey in her mouth. While she was doing it, she found out that the glass was actually fiber glass and the honey reacted with the fiber glass by sticking to her legs and ripping all the skin off. She went in the manager's studio while the band was still recording and threatened to sue the band, which is when the manager stabbed her to death. The band left in the scream as a cruel joke. The scream was actually keyboard player Billy Beck. Instead of telling the truth, the band agreed to coyly answer "no comment" when asked about the rumor, claiming they took a vow of silence. The ploy worked, as the urban legend gave the song a buzz and helped sell records.

I wonder how often this family band who was out playing music, traveling, becoming famous, ever gave thought to their brother who was sent to Vietnam since being denied admission into the band.
